Inclusive Digital Transformation in Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Key Objective

To work with our host Trust to co-design and trial Inclusive Digital Transformation and digital inclusion interventions. We are working with three mental health services to identify the needs of people who are currently excluded from accessing digital health and care services to co-design scalable and sustainable models of support.

Commissioners

Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust (LYPFT)

Who’s involved

Sarah Alden, our associate researcher, is supporting us to work alongside the three services:

  • Personality Disorder Service

  • Learning Disabilities Service

  • Forward Leeds, the Alcohol and Drug support partnership.

Our approach

We’re starting by carrying out a review of the current state of digital inclusion across LYPFT, including looking at the existing initiatives and interventions that are in place. We’ll then be working in depth with the three teams to co-design new interventions and models of support to meet the needs of those currently unable to benefit from the range of digital services offered. We’ll also be prototyping and testing a digital exclusion assessment tool to help clinical staff identify people who require support to access and use their digital services.

Alongside this work, we’re running a learning programme available to everyone across the Trust to raise awareness of digital exclusion and introduce approaches, tools and techniques to help people overcome barriers they may be facing when trying to access digital services, and to support the workforce with digital skills and confidence.

Timeframe

This project will be running until March 2023.

What success will look like

The overarching purpose of this programme is to ensure people who need the services and support of LYPFT are not excluded as a result of digital transformation.
