My Needs App Freelance Content Designer

Overview

Thrive by Design are working in partnership with West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership and Hive IT to co-design an app that will support different people to communicate their needs to different services and in different social situations. This includes but is not limited to supporting people who are neurodivergent and / or who may experience social and communication challenges. We expect a wide age range to use the app, including children and young people, their parents and caregivers, and adults. 

We currently have a prototype design but would like to test it with different people and in different environments, to inform the next stage of its development. 

Content Designer

We are looking for a Content Designer to support: 

  • Design and development of the My Needs App 

  • Research and design of an online information space and communication touchpoints that will enable different users to access and engage with the app 

  • Provide insight from a user centered approach to support accessibility  

This project aims to support people who are neurodivergent and / or people who may experience social and communication challenges. We would be especially keen to work with a practitioner who has lived and / or living experience of the subject and who enables inclusion and accessibility in their work.

Key information 

  • This will be a part-time freelance role.  

  • We currently expect activities to take place between March - May 2023. 

  • The exact number of days will be agreed as part of scoping the work further (which we would expect to do together with you). We expect this to be between 10 - 20 days total.   

  • Activities will take place remotely and in person (West Yorkshire).  

Activities

Activities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Support the project team to evaluate and review current prototype designs (app) 

  • Support user research activities with people with lived and living experience, as well as services (this is the activity we expect to be in person) 

  • Support the project team to translate research insights into user needs and design requirements (includes digital and offline channels) 

  • Support the design and development of an online information space and communication touchpoints that will support different people to engage with and use the app
